Documentation of the module ValAddThis. This extension is compatible with Joomla! versions 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 as well as 2.5+ and works with the Bookmarking service script of AddThis.com. Detailed documentation about the installation, configuration, support and download.

The module ValAddThis is compatible with both Joomla! versions 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 as well as 2.5+, and it uses the Bookmarking services of AddThis.com. For a complete list of the AddThis features take a look at this page. The module ValAddThis allows the easy configuration as well the display of the AddThis Button or AddThis Toolbox. It produces valid markup for XHTML as well as for CSS 2.1. ValAddThis is free software, which has been released under the GNU/GPL v2.0 license.

This version of the module supports the latest AddThis Menu Client API 2.0, in combination with the old API 1.0 (which is still used to display an RSS-Feed button). With ValAddThis you're also able to display the new AddThis Toolbox as well as several other special buttons (such as: LinkedIn and Stumbleupon counters), which aren't supported officially by AddThis yet; for more details on the various configuration options read on. New features in this latest version of ValAddThis module will be marked with this icon: New feature of ValAddThis

All the documentation screenshots were taken in Joomla! 1.5, but they won't look much different in newer versions of Joomla.

1. Installation

If you have already an older version (prior to 2.5.0) of the module ValAddThis installed, please uninstall it first and then continue with the installation steps below:

  • Go to your Joomla administration backend and on the menu Extensions and click on "Install/Uninstall" (after J1.6 is "Extension Manager").

  • Upload the file contained here by clicking on "Browse..." and selecting the zipped file.
    Screenshot: Extension installation #2

hello and thanks for the great module!

But .... Everytime I make any changes to the 'custom' options for the toolbar I allways get the same thing; facebook, google, and the 'share' button. Using the services listed in the services directory doesn't seem to do anything. ...

I've tried everything and still no luck.

Thanks!

Quoting Chrysovalantis Mochlas:
Quoting Jonas:
...Im using the like buttons in a blog environment with many articles displayed on one page ( and x instances of the like button.

the problem is that all buttons have the same result when i press it. They dont feature the content of that specific article but the description of the parent site..

The module isn't appropriate for article based bookmarking, it always reads the current page's URL. What you need is the ValAddThis plugin.

thx for your answer.

have a look here please: whalewatchingsydney.com.au/.../

its working in there, but not in the normal blog view. www.whalewatchingsydney.com.au/.../

i think it doesnt work from inside the blog component?

Thank you for that great extension, works fine! But I've got a problem with the alignment. Whatever I set it to - the toolbox will always show up on the left. I use the module in my footer with { loadposition }. Can you help me?
