The test system was based on Windows Vista 32/64 bit, but the whole process won't be much different on a system based on Linux or MacOS. You can watch the second part of this Video Tutorial here in English or in Greek.

1. First Part (of 2)

In this first part of the Video Tutorial for Joomla I will show you what packages you need to download on your computer and how to configure XAMPP. Joomla requires to be installed on a server system, preferably on Apache server, and that the database MySQL as well as the programming language PHP are both installed on that server; XAMPP includes all these packages together.

I was informed by some user today that he tried to install the newest version of XAMPP, which is 1.7.2 and uses PHP 5.3.0 (XAMPP 1.7.1 used PHP 5.2.9) and he just couldn't install Joomla on it.

Probably Joomla has some issues with PHP 5.3.0; has anyone else of you experienced the same problem? If yes download the older version of XAMPP 1.7.1 and install this instead!

Ενα ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΩ (μεγαλο-μεγαλο) και απο μενα!
ειμαι τοσο απειρη με τη γλωσσα των ιστοσελιδων οσο ενα παιδι του νηπειαγωγειου με την μητρικη του γλωσσα!
Στην αρχη το ειδα σχετικα ευκολο και αρχισα να διαβαζω διαφορα σαιτς με συμβουλες και παραδειγματα, σωστα μεν αλλα κομματιαστα, δεν ηξερα με ποια σειρα να τα βαλλω, πελαγωσα!...μεχρι που βρηκα την ιστοσελιδα σου και μου εδωσες ελπιδες και οχι μονο!!!:)))
Εχω ομως ΧΡ και οχι VISTA, υπαρχουν διαφορες?
Επισης εχω κατεβασει το Joomla πριν κατεβασω to XAMPP kai ton Apache και κατι δεν μου παει καλα (νομιζω). Πρεπει να κανω απεγκατασταση και επανεγκαταστασταση το Joomla?

Παρακαλώ Έλενα και χαίρομαι που σε βοήθησαν τα βίντεο. Τα XP με τα Vista, όσον αφορά την εγκατάσταση του XAMPP με το Joomla, δεν έχουν μεγάλες διαφορές. Επίσης το σωστό είναι να εγκαταστήσεις πρώτα το XAMPP και έπειτα το Joomla, όπως εξηγώ και στα βίντεο.
